WAG membership entitles you to discounts on WAG-sponsored agility classes and seminars. Once you and your dog have mastered the basic skills and equipment, you will have access to a full set of agility equipment at WAG practices. We have three trials a year (USDAA or NADAC) and are trying to have at least four Fun Matches. WAG members put on agility demonstrations for the public or groups such as nursing homes and schools, including a well-received state fair event. Demo’s are a great opportunity to practice with a crowd, but without the pressure of a trial and they provide an excellent opportunity for public education about agility and dogs, in general. WAG has a library of agility books and videotapes, which may be checked out by members. We have a summer picnic and a Christmas Party each year. You can be as involved in the above activities as you like. WAG is a great group with interesting people and dogs dedicated to agility; we welcome new members who share our enthusiasm for the sport. How can you become a WAG member? Anyone can apply to become a WAG member. Owners of mixed-breed or purebred dogs are equally welcome. Most people take a class, attend meetings or help on demos. Make sure the class is sponsored by WAG; there are many excellent teachers who are WAG members, but are teaching independently. If you need the names and phone members of teachers in your area, we can assist with that also. You can choose the activities and times that fit your schedule. To attend practices, you and your dog must have completed a beginning agility class on obstacles. WAG membership dues are prorated if you join during the year. They are due at the first of the year and are $20. for a single membership, $25. for a family membership and a one-time-only $30. equipment fee.
We meet once a month--usually, but not always--on the 3rd Friday at the Pioneer
Villa Restaurant on I-5 at Exit #216. It's on the east side of the freeway towards Brownsville, right as you get off the freeway. We meet at 7:00 PM for an hour. Some come at 6:00 PM, order supper and eat before or during the meeting.
